Standing out in a sea of sameness

 

Words like AML, risk and regulation tend to be accompanied by corporate blues, heavy typography and a lot of seriousness. So when I was asked to create the brand identity for EasyAML, I saw an opportunity to do something a little different.

The challenge wasn't to make compliance feel frivolous. It was to make it feel approachable.

EasyAML is a SaaS platform designed to simplify anti-money laundering compliance, helping businesses navigate complex processes with greater confidence and less friction. The name itself promises simplicity, so the brand needed to deliver on that promise from the very first interaction.

The visual identity centres around a bold magenta colour palette—confident, modern and energetic. It's a colour that's difficult to ignore, helping the brand stand apart in a category where everyone seems to play it safe.

Compliance is a serious business. Customers need to trust the platform and feel confident that it's helping them manage important regulatory obligations.

But there's no rule that says a trustworthy brand has to be cold or intimidating.

By combining a clean, modern visual system with bold colour and a playful brand device, the identity communicates professionalism while reminding people that software can make difficult jobs feel easier.

For marketing and advertising we introduced an inflatable flamingo as a brand device. It's unexpected, not an obvious pairing—and that's exactly what makes it memorable.

The inflatable flamingo brings a touch of humour and personality to the brand, softening what can often feel like an intimidating subject. It creates moments of delight throughout the product and marketing materials.

One of the things I enjoy most about branding is helping businesses rethink the conventions of their industry. Sometimes the strongest brands aren't the ones that follow the category—they're the ones that confidently challenge it.

EasyAML proves that even in a highly regulated space, a brand can be professional, memorable and even a little playful.
